Weathering and Erosion
The process of rock breaking apart is called weathering. Some examples of weathering include streams cutting through rock to form canyons, rocks splitting when water seeps in and freezes, and windblown sand raking down rock. Erosion is the picking up and carrying away of the weathered rock. An example of erosion is moving water picking up pieces of rock or soil and moving them.
