Subtract 10 or 100
When 100 is subtracted from a number, the digit at its hundreds place decreases by 1.
For example: Consider the number 567. It can be written in the place value table as:

When 100 is subtracted from 567, the digit at its hundreds place decreases by 1.
5 – 1 = 4
