Relate Subtraction and Multiplication with Division
a) Division by a number means subtracting that number repeatedly.
For example, to find 15 ÷ 3, subtract 3 from 15 repeatedly till you get a zero.
15 – 3 = 12, 12 – 3 = 9, 9 – 3 = 6, 6 – 3 = 3, 3 – 3 = 0
We have subtracted 3 from 15, 5 times to reach at zero.
So, 15 ÷ 3 = 5.
b) Multiplication and division are inverse operations. Multiplication is used to put equal groups together, and division separates one group into several equal groups.
