Decimal Place Values Part 2
Value of a digit in a number is the value it holds to be at the place in the number.
For example: Consider the number 123.567.
Let's find the values of the digits 2 and 7.
The number 123.567 can be written in the place value chart as:
Hundreds | Tens | Ones | . | Tenths | Hundredths | Thousandths |
1 | 2 | 3 | . | 5 | 6 | 7 |
The value of the digit 2 is 2 tens or 20.
The value of the digit 7 is 7 thousandths or 0.007.
