Conversions of common metric units of weight:

 1 gram = 1,000 milligrams  1 kilogram = 1,000 grams

Let's consider an example.

Suppose we need to compare 8 kilograms and 6,000 grams.

In order to compare, we first convert 8 kilograms to grams.

We know that 1 kilogram is equal to 1,000 grams.

So, 8 kilograms = 8 x 1,000 = 8,000 grams

8,000 grams is more than 6,000 grams.

So, 8 kilograms > 6,000 grams.
